The End of Summer

I saw a piece of my love

slip away as I heard

the church bells of autumn

ringing the song

of fallen leaves. 

Somehow it feels

so peaceful, so reassuring

when your heart

finds a way

to settle down in silence.

For once the sun

of affection embodied

in a heat wave of summer

sets down in dark blue sky

it's time to go on.
