Space Cadet #2 - First Trace
Anotace: #2 - First Trace
My only companion was hell of a headache that I had. But first, I wanted to wash down the sand from my body. Starting from the face down to the uniform – I cleaned it all. For a while I wondered how did I end up here? The ocean must have dragged me here. However, another question worried my mind. How did I end up in the ocean?
In that very moment I took a look back at the ship wreckage. I decided to follow the route leading towards to it. I checked my gun that was luckily fully loaded. I took a deep breath and moved forward with caution. Tireless sun illuminated the entire surrounding. In fact there wasn’t much to see on the path, just more sand and some stones. Further on I was able to see an elevated crag. Luckily it wasn’t too high. For a start I will have to give climbing a try. It should be profitable, since the high ground will provide me with a good vision over the environment. Then, I can easily check the ship wreckage and consider my next steps.
When I proceeded, slowly, the jungle on the left caught my attention again. I wasn’t exactly sure what I saw this time. I swear to god that I saw something. My guess would be that it was some kind of a wild beast. I hoped it will dare to attack me! The weapon in my hands is somewhat tempting to try it out, so I have no problem to test it out on some pesky creature.
Suddenly I noticed that a device on my right arm was blinking. It tried to update itself. I stopped for a moment to inspect it. There were various functions on the display. I was able to find out the current time and also the information about fascinating 47°C. The device was able to determine my pulse as well. But besides all of this, it managed to present more useful data. The sunrays probably charged this intriguing device. If I wasn’t lying on my hand when I was out, I could have made a use of these at the drop of a hat. Anyway, I still can’t recall my name, or remember where am I right now - or why am I here.
In that very moment I came to my senses again. Now it was all about what I might have seen earlier. Again, I thought about it for a while. I concluded that if there actually was some ferocious beast, then it would surely grasp its opportunity to take me down and make me its prey. Well, maybe I was right or maybe I was wrong? Who knows? I’m afraid that the creature actually was just a mere illusion, since the pain from the headache might have slightly hindered my vision. I paid no more attention to the device and instead I focused on the road again. Sooner or later the utilities of this device will be exposed. No reason to rush.
After few miles I arrived at my destination, the elevated rock. Luckily it wasn’t required to climb as much as I expected. To be honest I was kind of afraid of the whole idea… Me climbing… I mean, I was mentally pretty confident that I will manage to go over this obstacle, but in the present conditions and my physical state I didn’t really want to risk it. Nevermind. Once I got up to the top, I had a spectacular view over the surrounding. An infinite ocean could still be seen, however this time it was possible to see its depth and intensity. This calming view almost let me forget about the whole situation I were in.
I focused on my primary target again. Getting here was a great idea; it allowed me to find a safe way into the shipwreck. Slinging the gun over my shoulder I decided to continue on my quest. A journey to the unknown, a journey to explore my destiny.
