A Wondering Child (by Jan Elgroth Talvinen)
When I was born, I saw a globe
Blue and green one - or so alike
I did lack hair, as well as robe
And I didn't have a car or bike...
Still I was glad and wondered much
And marvelled over the globe's fine shapes
And colours and scents to hear and touch
And trees and stones and seas and capes.
Nothing I had, it made no harm
Till freaking reason came to my mind
Now all my self's screaming in alarm:
"There are no riches by you to find!"
I curse this progress that makes us race
For having much and for taking more,
More of displeasure, disgust, disgrace -
Oh, I wish I'd regress and could adore!
